About Tierra
Tierra Right of Way Services, Ltd., was formed in 1989 by Randye K. Ferrick (then Randye K. Rabb) and Gordon Hirschy, who were the company’s only employees at the time. Gordon sadly passed away in 1992. Between 1992 and 1999, we steadily grew our right of way services business in Arizona and successfully completed public and private sector projects in California, Colorado, New Mexico, and Washington State. As we grew, we saw an opportunity to expand our list of services to better meet our client’s needs. We established the Cultural Resources Division in 1993, which provides archaeological consulting services. During this period of expansion, the CAD/GIS Department was added to provide in-house mapping services to support the needs a growing company.
To further diversify our business as we entered our second decade of operation, we decided to expand our services to become one of the only companies in the West that offers a complete range of land services to our clients. This allowed us to provide our clients with all of the services they need to complete their project’s goals under one roof. In 2000, we added the Environmental Division, which provides environmental consulting services. The Planning Services Division was added in 2003 to offer land planning services, with an emphasis on the entitlement process.
As Tierra grew and expanded, we increasingly started to perform work outside of Arizona. In 1993, we began providing right of way services in Washington State; in 1998, we started offering land services to clients in New Mexico; and in 2000, we ventured into Nevada. As we started working across these three Western states, we decided to open satellite offices in these states to better serve our clients there. The first of our satellite offices opened in Phoenix in 1999, our Washington State offices followed closely in 2000, our Nevada office was established in 2004, and our New Mexico office opened its doors in 2006.
Today, our company offers a complete range of right of way, planning, CAD/GIS, and cultural and natural environmental services to public and private-sector clients throughout the western United States. Over our nearly two decades of operation, we have assembled a staff of experienced senior management and a team of knowledgeable right of way, cultural and environmental, planning, and CAD/GIS professionals. Our professional staff have solidified Tierra’s reputation for providing the highest level of consulting land services. This is evidenced by our 98% customer retention rate.
