Coachline Data Recovery Project
In March of 2007, Tierra was hired by a private developer to conduct investigations at the Silverbell-Coachline site, an early Hohokam Colonial period village in the northern Tucson Basin. Excavations revealed 40 pit structures arranged around a large cemetery area. Preliminary findings from ceramic analysis indicate that the site’s occupants had close ties with people in the Phoenix Basin. This project required coordination between multiple parties and agencies. The goals in the scope of work were successfully completed despite considerable budgetary and schedule constraints, and clearance for the development of this land was granted shortly after fieldwork was completed. The report for this project will soon be published as part of Tierra’s Archaeological Research Series.
