Natural Resources Project Manager
Tierra Right of Way Services is a multi-discipline professional consulting firm providing assistance to public and private clients from our offices in Phoenix, Tucson, Santa Fe, Seattle and Las Vegas. Our professionals are organized into three Divisions: Archeology, Right of Way and Environmental Planning. We provide services to a wide range of clients for a diverse set of project types including: telecommunications, transportation, mining, solar, wind and land development.
Tierra is seeking a Natural Resources Project Manager with natural resource consulting experience. The position is a regular, full-time, salaried position reporting to the Director of Environmental Planning at our company headquarters in Tucson, Arizona. Salary based on education, experience and qualifications. Required Education and Experience
- M.S. (or equivalent experience) in biology, environmental planning, or a related field preferred
- 5 or more years experience preparing NEPA documents, especially environmental assessments
- 2 years experience overseeing and coordinating the preparation of NEPA documents preferred
- Familiarity with the agencies, habitat and species of the Southwest preferred
- Practical knowledge of Section 106, 404 & 401, ESA, Section 7 regulations
- Experience organizing and writing proposals is desirable
Required Skills
- Preparation and oversight of NEPA documents (e.g. environmental assessments)
- Working knowledge of natural resource regulations: federal, state, local level
- Ability to identify required project tasks, schedule, costs, staff – and oversee same
- Maintenance of positive working relations with Tierra staff, clients, and agencies
- Preparation of responsive proposals for public or private projects
- Ability to perform and supervise field surveys needed for NEPA compliance
- Permit for special status species in the Southwest (or ability to qualify)
- Technical writing skills; verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Prepare /oversee reports, research and other natural resource documents
- Organize, carry out/oversee natural resource field studies
- Prepare/assist in estimates of tasks, staff resources, costs, budgets for natural resource proposals
- Organize goals, schedules, tasks, and staff assignments for awarded contracts
- Coordinate project work with Tierra divisions, clients, engineers, agencies
- Maintain positive working relations with Tierra staff, clients, agencies
- Represent Tierra in a positive manner in the community, among peers, with clients
